Olivet University’s Wednesday service welcomed guest preacher Pastor Jon Runnfeldt, who brought an uplifting message that resonated deeply with students, faculty, and staff. Pastor Runnfeldt, the head pastor of Valley Gospel Chapel for the past five years, was accompanied by his family and members of his church’s youth group, including their leaders.
Preaching from John 3, Pastor Runnfeldt focused on the transformative power of being born of the Spirit and the importance of seeking spiritual nourishment. Drawing a vivid comparison between natural and supernatural bread, he encouraged listeners to approach faith with open hearts.
“Faith is to receive something from God,” Pastor Runnfeldt shared. “The attitude with which we receive it matters. Food received with faith transforms us, while grumbling hearts miss the blessing,” he said, inspiring the audience to approach God with humility and gratitude.
The pastor urged students to pursue spiritual sustenance that leads to living water, reminding them of their future roles as ministers. “Knowing the people around us and recognizing God’s work in them is essential,” he advised, calling the next generation of leaders to cultivate empathy and spiritual discernment.
Following the sermon, Olivet University Theology Professor Bethany Kim prayed over the evening’s special guests, blessing Pastor Runnfeldt’s family and the visiting youth group. The service concluded with a campus tour for Valley Gospel Chapel guests, followed by a time of fellowship between the university’s students and the youth group.
