University President Dr. William Wagner introduced two new deans at Olivet’s recent leadership retreat Aug. 12-13 in Danville, California. Mrs. Tracy Davis was introduced as the University's new academic dean, and Dr. Joseph Ray Tallman as the dean of Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS).
The University's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint the new deans earlier this month. Dr. Wagner had held both positions prior to becoming president Aug. 1.
"I am very thrilled about the appointment of Tracy Davis and Ray Tallman,” said Dr. Wagner. “Both of these individuals are qualified, outstanding individuals with a deep love for Jesus Christ. God is doing great things at Olivet and this is proof that we are moving forward in the cause of Christ."
Prior to becoming academic dean, Mrs. Davis had served as the University's director of academic affairs and institutional research. Dr. Tallman has held longtime tenure at Olivet serving the University in the capacity as professor of missions.
“I’m humbled, honored, happy for the opportunity to serve Jesus Christ and Olivet University in this new and challenging role,” said Mrs. Davis following her appointment. “I thank God and thank the school’s leadership for extending this trust to me.”
"It is a great privilege to accept the new role of Dean at OTCS," Dr. Tallman remarked. "I am grateful to God and to the Olivet leadership and family members for their confidence in what I can bring to the future of this dynamic work of God."
In her role Mrs. Davis will be working with an experienced cadre of deans from the University's five colleges to carry out the academic mission of the school, including newly appointed Dr. Tallman; Jubilee College of Music Dean Dr. Merrill Smoak; Olivet College of Journalism Dean Dr. Jim Willis; Olivet College of Art & Design Dean Dr. Joan Carter; and Olivet Institute of Technology Dean Dr. Ching Cheng Lee.
