February 12, 2009

Students from the Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ) were among the over 6000 attendants at the annual gathering of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB),which concluded on Tuesday February 10, 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The world's largest Christian communications event attracted top faith media professionals and Christian leaders from around the United States and from different parts of the world to encourage cooperation between groups wishing to harness the power of media to spread the Gospel.

Over 300 exhibitors showed their wares on the 135,000 square feet of exhibit space, including well-known Christian groups and companies such as the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, American Bible Society, Answers in Genesis, Crossway Books & Bibles, and  the Christian Television Network Corp.

The NRB convention offered seminars by top professionals in topics such as fund raising, marketing, copyright laws, and transforming church worship with technology.

The convention also featured IT companies such as Sony Electronics, Canon USA, and Adobe Systems.  These exhibits in the Tech Lab offered the opportunity for attendance to see side-by-side comparisons of cameras, audio boards, microphones, video editing suites which are commonly used in media companies.

For the students of OCJ, the greatest benefits of attending the convention was the chance to meet with and speak directly to top management in Christian communications.

"It was very helpful.  We got to hear from the top leaders in their field.  It gave us insight for how we can better serve and improve," shared one of the students.  "I'm very thankful to have this kind of unique opportunity."
