Dr. Bill Taylor Inspires OTCS Students with Special Lecture

Mission scholar Dr. Bill Taylor shared vision and reflections with Olivet Theological College and Seminary (OTCS) students last week.  Dr. Taylor addressed a gathering of over 50 OTCS students and faculty members while covering a range of topics, from family life to mission experience.

The students drew inspiration from his remarks, especially his personal anecdotes about mission work in and outside of Latin America.  The lecture also included a question and answer session, in which student questions focused on Dr. Taylor's campus ministry experience, the future of global missions, and mission work in Latin America. 

"It was a great opportunity to listen to an insightful mission scholar," remarked one student about the lecture. "I appreciated hearing him speak about his mission stories so openly and sincerely."

Dr. Bill Taylor was born in Costa Rica of missionary parents and educated in U.S.A. before returning to Latin America (North Texas University--B.A; Dallas Theological Seminary--Th.M.; University of Texas, Austin--Ph.D. in Latin American studies). For 17 years he taught at the Central American Theological Seminary in Guatemala (CAM Int.) and serves today as a visiting professor in seminaries and missionary training schools in North America and internationally.  

From 1986-2006 he served as Executive Director of the Mission Commission of World Evangelical Alliance. He is now WEA's global ambassador and senior mentor.

Too Valuable to Lose: Exploring the Causes and Cures of Missionary Attrition, (Spanish and Portuguese editions) WCL, 1997, (Spanish, Portuguese, Korean editions). Global Missiology for the 21st Century: The Iguassu Dialogue, Baker, 2000. (Korean, Spanish Portuguese editions). Co-author with Sergio E. Mijangos of La Familia Autenticamente Cristiana, (revised edition) Portavoz, 2002. Editor of new international periodical, "Connections: the Journal of the WEA Mission Commission"
