San Francisco, CA. - On Wednesday, February 4, faculty and staff together with hundreds of students convened at Olivet University for Spring Convocation 2009. The ceremony was held in the University Chapel at the main campus in downtown San Francisco, California.
The exercises commenced with a procession of academic leaders into the Chapel, followed by a succession of warmhearted address by University President Dr. David James Randolph welcoming the Olivet community to a new semester. Musical selections and choral devotions from the Jubilee College of Music interspersed the evening's events.
The Convocation Address was delivered by Dr. Bill Taylor, a world renowned missiologist who has served on the Mission Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance for over 30 years. Dr. Taylor's address took a verse from 1 Chronicles 12 to describe the people and endeavors of Olivet as part of the big picture of God's history. His speech, which detailed the historical progression of universities, exhorted Olivet to be a community of Christian leaders in today's new global era.
Immediately following convocation guests enjoyed a special reception at the executive offices of Olivet University to celebrate the occasion.
