World Evangelical Alliance Holds Meeting at Olivet University

May 10, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Top leaders from the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) convened at Olivet University April 29-30. Participants included representatives from several WEA-related academic and international institutions meeting to tighten plans for the creation of the WEA Leadership Institute.

The meeting also addressed roles and responsibilities of WEA’s major constituent bodies, called national evangelical alliances. The proposed Leadership Institute is being created to meet their training needs.

"A healthy and vibrant national alliance can play a critical role in the spiritual transformation of a country,” said WEA International Director Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe. “It is the goal of the Leadership Institute to provide practical training and mentoring that will help WEA serve leaders around the world to develop such alliances.”

The World Evangelical Alliance is a global network consisting of eleven regional and 128 national evangelical alliances, over 100 international member organizations and six commissions serving the worldwide church. The 160-year old Alliance has partnered with Olivet University in key areas consistent with the school’s mission, commitments and goals.
