Lecture Series to Feature Dr. Tony Sargent

On April 9-11, 2008 Olivet University welcomes Dr. Tony Sargent, President of International Christian College(ICC) in Glasgow, Scotland, to deliver the lecture series "Preaching Ministry of Martin Lloyd-Jones."

Dr. Sargent's lectures will take place 2:00 – 5:00 pm in Olivet University Chapel, and are open to all members of the university community. He will speak on Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, the subject of Dr. Sargent's biography The Sacred Anointing: The Preaching of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Discussion will penetrate into Lloyd-Jones's life and ministry, giving special attention to the Holy Spirit's anointing power in his work.

Ranked among the most notable Evangelical preachers of the twentieth century, Martin Lloyd-Jones (December 20, 1899 – March 1, 1981) was a Protestant Christian minister who strongly impacted the reformed wing of the British evangelical movement in the 20th century. For almost 30 years he was the minister of Westminster Chapel, celebrated for a body of sermonic work that drew vast crowds and sold hundreds of thousands of published copies.

Dr. Sargent has served as president of International Christian College since 1998. Prior to his service at ICC, he was senior minister of Worthing Tabernacle Church in Worthing, England for nearly thirty years.  Dr. Sargent currently serves as director of several Christian organizations, including Operation Mobilisation, AIM and Elam Ministries. He is committed to various social ministries in India, and holds memberships on the Council of the Evangelical Alliance Scotland and Compassion in World Farming.
