OCJ Experience Expands with Oakland Tribune Visit

January 30, 2008

Students from the Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ) visited the offices of leading Bay Area newspaper The Oakland Tribune last Thursday for a closer look at the news journalism industry.

Professor of Journalism Dr. William B. Alnor organized the trip, putting the Tribune in touch with some of Christian media’s brightest, most talented future leaders while giving students exposure to different facets of media and business.

During the three-hour visit students shadowed city editors as they strategized news coverage and volleyed article layout concepts.

Olivet students also took the opportunity to share professional insights and network with Tribune interns from other area universities.

Following the belief that education is enriched by a variety of learning experiences, OCJ offers students an array of opportunities each semester to interact directly with specific companies and organizations in the media industry.
