Prayer events prepare Class of 2007, University for meaningful graduation

June 16, 2007

In the days leading up to Commencement 2007 people across the Olivet University community will gather together for prayer each day for the school, the June 15th graduation ceremony, and the graduating class.

According to the organizing committee, the pre-commencement prayer events are part of an ethos of prayer at Olivet, which offers a variety of spiritual formation activities to students, faculty and staff.

The committee is encouraging wide participation, especially among members of the Class of 2007. Participants are asked to reflect thoughtfully on the meaning and honor of graduation, and to share their reflections with the Olivet University community via MyOlivet messaging and bulletin boards.

"When I prayed to reflect on our commencement ceremony, I was touched by the deep meaning of graduation" reads one staff member's posting. "It's symbolic of the University putting official trust in the newest members of the alumni family to continue the history and heritage of Olivet—an institution for God's glory and for His kingdom… and when graduates publicly accept this trust with faith, dignity, and thankfulness."

Morning and afternoon prayer meetings, followed by group discussion sessions, are scheduled daily until June 15th. Times and locations will be updated on the announcement pages of MyOlivet.
