Professional media careers await this year's OCJ graduates

May 10, 2007

As the end of the school year approaches, students graduating from Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ) are looking forward to greeting media career opportunities in June.

For years OCJ has been training students with its unique blend of classic journalism methods, media technology skills, and practical ministry programs, in partnership with industry affiliates. The educational experience has allowed seniors like Edwin Tsuei a head-start in the professional world of journalism.

"Photography and story writing has always been a favorite pastime of mine, but the thought of a career led me to OCJ" said Tsuei. The San Diego native will continue these pursuits professionally after graduation in a fulltime position with a Washington-based Christian news-media group. He says that Olivet’s internship and career assistance programs helped him land the job.

"Through OCJ I've found interesting internships every summer since enrolling," Tsuei explained. "I was really excited when I was offered a position through contacts I made at these internships; I couldn't turn it down."

Since the College's inception it's provided opportunities for upcoming journalists to gain hands-on industry insight and know-how.
