Today's graphic designers are enlarging the tent of their craft to assume advisory and project management roles when working with clients.
For this reason Patti Oji Haas, instructor of the Olivet College of Art and Design's graphic design program, emphasizes the importance of developing solid graphic design skills together with business acumen to students. An experienced professional graphic designer who has worked with prestigious design firms, such as Osbourne Designs, Mrs. Haas knows the importance of balancing traditional design abilities with effective marketing.
"Haas' class has introduced me to a new world of design," said student Sarka Sykorova, who landed an internship in the design division of an Olivet-affiliated music ministry this summer. "That's the business of being a designer," she added.
