OTCS Adds New Professor to Its Ranks

December 1, 2006 – The ranks of the Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS) faculty have expanded over the fall with the arrival of new adjunct professor Dr. Don Tinder. This addition is part of an effort to bring about a net increase of faculty members during 2006-2007 academic year.

Professor Tinder brings expertise in a range of subjects, especially Christian history and systematic theology.

"We count ourselves very fortunate to have Dr. Don Tinder on staff" said Academic Dean William Wagner. "He is a world-class scholar, and we believe he will bring an enormous amount of scholarship to the University."

Professor Tinder comes to OTCS from the Evangelical Theological Faculty, Leuven , Beligium, where he is a Professor of Historical Theology and coordinator of the Ph.D. program. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Tyndale Theological Seminary, Amsterdam, the . He has published widely on Christian history; many of his writings have appeared in Christianity Today, where he served as Associate Editor before moving to Europe .  In addition to earning B.A., M.Phil, Ph.D. degrees from Yale University , Professor Tinder holds an M.Div. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has taught as a visiting lecturer at many other theological faculties in Europe and North America .

This year, he is teaching the Master of Divinity course "Church History," a study of the foundations and development of the Christian Church from the first century to the present.
