Homeland Security and U.S. Attorney’s Office Decline Charges Against Olivet University

September 30, 2025

Riverside, CA — September 30, 2025 — Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) have formally declined to bring charges against the University, according to the joint stipulation filed on September 30, 2025.

This decision aligns with what the University had been stating all along, that longstanding allegations against the University were without merit. With the matter resolved, Olivet University remains focused on its mission of providing quality higher education in an environment of faith, service, and integrity.

Below is the full statement from the President:

I commend the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for rightly issuing a declination to bring any charges against Olivet University or any individuals associated with Olivet. This decision affirms what we have consistently maintained: the accusations against our institution were false and unfounded.

The real danger came not from Olivet University, but from those individuals who deliberately lied about our school, manipulated the U.S. visa system, and colluded with certain media outlets to spread false narratives. Their goal was never justice—it was to destroy reputations, destabilize institutions, and dishonestly profit from this scheme. By manufacturing accusations and amplifying them through the press, they harmed not only Olivet University but also public trust in the very systems meant to protect truth.

When U.S. immigration programs meant to protect real victims are manipulated, as these individuals have done, it harms our national security. It’s especially remarkable that a mainstream media outlet, Newsweek, colluded with these individuals to spread lies about Olivet University without a single shred of evidence. They believed that if they repeated the lie long enough, with over 22 articles and counting, that they could dupe the public. Their deception inflicted lasting harm on our University community, misled the public, and caused our nation to waste enormous law enforcement resources and millions of taxpayer dollars pursuing baseless accusations.  HSI and the USAO admirably waded through the lies and falsehoods to come to the right decision about Olivet.

Our resolve remains unshaken. Olivet University will continue to fulfill its mission of educating future pastors and missionaries with faith and integrity.
