OTCS RS Faculty and Students Attend 2025 Los Angeles Theology Conference on Soteriology

On March 13, 2025, faculty and students from OTCS Riverside (RS) attended the Los Angeles Theology Conference (LATC) at Biola University in La Mirada, California. This year’s conference focused on the theme “Receiving Redemption,” exploring how individuals and communities receive the blessings of salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The conference examined soteriology—the doctrine of salvation—through discussions grounded in Scripture and Christian tradition. Theologians, students, and scholars engaged in dialogue on different perspectives on salvation and its implications for contemporary theology.

For OTCS RS faculty and students, the conference provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of soteriology and reflect on its role in theological education. Dr. Christy Tran shared her thoughts on the experience:

"Attending LATC alongside our faculty was both refreshing and intellectually stimulating. Engaging with scholars from other institutions allowed us to assess the strengths and limitations of contemporary theological education. This experience challenges us to pursue excellence in equipping our students with the knowledge and skills needed to articulate and defend their faith."

Faculty members also found the conference valuable for evaluating the seminary’s academic approach. Discussions with scholars from various backgrounds encouraged self-reflection and academic growth.
