Gift Enlarges Visual Media Studies at Olivet

June 11, 2006

Olivet University has received a generous donation of photographic equipment that will be used to develop the visual media field of studies, especially with the Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ). The gift comes from amateur photographer Mr. Austin Brooks, whose artwork currently is being featured at a museum exhibition in San Francisco, CA.

"Olivet College of Journalism is enormously grateful to the Brooks family for their generosity, and for this demonstrated commitment to help develop the school's academic resources," said Walker Tzeng, Chief Operating Officer of Olivet University. "Their support will make an enormous difference in preparing Christian leaders in the field of visual media in the years ahead."

Plans are underway to construct a darkroom to house the new equipment on Olivet University's main campus. Administrators are also arranging for shared use of the facilities by students from the College of Journalism and College of Art and Design.

"I am grateful that we can provide Olivet University students with new learning opportunities" said Mr. Dennis Brooks, the youngest son of Mr. Austin Brooks, on behalf of the family. "It's a chance to give back what God's given me."
