New Delhi, India—On February 4, Olivet University Chancellor Dr. David Jang met to discuss plans and cast vision with The Reverend Richard Howell, vice chairman of the World Evangelical Alliance's International Council and general secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI).
The International Council is the executive committee of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA)—the evangelical community's most recognized organization, of which EFI is a charter member.
Longtime friends Rev. Howell and Dr. Jang, who currently serves on WEA's North American Council, spent the morning exploring how to enhance the impact of Christian higher education in India and other regions of Asia. The discussion gave special attention to supporting the educational needs of Christians in Mongolia and Vietnam, in addition to the Hindi and Nepalese language groups in the northern belt of India.
The leaders spoke in depth about the role of Olivet's theological and technology resources in improving access to Christian materials in these regions. The meeting concluded with a commitment by the leaders to a sustained partnership between Olivet University and area evangelical communities, and an increased University presence in the region to advance these goals.
