Olivet University operates in the State of Missouri under the “Religious Accreditation” exemption, pursuant to MO 6 CSR 10-5.010(3)(A), and verified by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development. The status of exemption does not constitute approval or recognition of the institution or its programs of instruction by the Coordinating Board, the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, or the State of Missouri.
Olivet University is approved by the DC Higher Education Licensure Commission to offer courses or instruction leading to the awarding of certificates, diplomas or degrees in the District of Columbia in accordance with the provisions of Title 38, Chapter 13, of the District of Columbia Official Code (D.C. Official Code §38-1301 et seq.), and applicable regulations of the DC Higher Education Licensure Commission.

Olivet University operates under a religious exemption and without governmental oversight in the State of Florida, Pursuant to Florida Statute 1005.06 (1)(f). The most recent verification letter was issued on June 4, 2025, by the Florida Department of Education Commission for Independent Education, for a period of one year.
Olivet University is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation (5850 T. G. Lee Blvd., Ste. 130, Orlando, FL 32822, 407.207.0808) to grant certificates and degrees at the Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.
The ABHE Commission on Accreditation’s recognition with the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) includes certificates, diplomas, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees, including doctoral degrees. The Commission’s scope of recognition with the U.S. Department of Education does not include doctoral education.

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation has issued Olivet University an Order to Show Cause why its accreditation should be continued. An institution retains its accreditation status with the Commission on Accreditation while under Show Cause Order. The maximum time permitted for a Show Cause Order is one year. Failure to comply with the following specific accreditation standard(s) by the deadline imposed by the Commission on Accreditation will result in removal of the institution’s status with the Commission on Accreditation.
The COA cited the following Standards and deficiencies in the show cause action letter: The Condition of Eligibility 3; Standard 3: EE2; Standard 1: EE 1, 2; and Standard 2: EE 3.
