All applicants to Olivet University should evidence strong Christian character, potential for effectiveness in Christian ministry, and the scholastic ability and emotional maturity to handle a higher education experience.
Olivet professors understand their academic work to be in the service of the church. Most faculty members have experienced ministry first-hand and all are currently engaged in the life of the church from the local to the national level.

Olivet University qualifies for the religious exemption status with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) under the California Education Code (CEC) section 94874(e).

State of Missouri

Olivet University operates in the State of Missouri under the “Religious Accreditation” exemption, pursuant to MO 6 CSR 10-5.010(3)(A), and verified by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development. The status of exemption does not constitute approval or recognition of the institution or its programs of instruction by the Coordinating Board, the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, or the State of Missouri.
State of Tennessee

Institutional Accreditation

Olivet University is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation (5850 T. G. Lee Blvd., Ste. 130, Orlando, FL 32822, 407.207.0808) to grant certificates and degrees at the Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation’s recognition with the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) includes certificates, diplomas, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees, including doctoral degrees. The Commission’s scope of recognition with the U.S. Department of Education does not include doctoral education.

Olivet University operates under a religious exemption and without governmental oversight in the State of Florida, Pursuant to Florida Statute 1005.06 (1)(f). The most recent verification letter was issued on June 13, 2024, by the Florida Department of Education Commission for Independent Education, for a period of one year.
